Our pupils have recently enjoyed a series of exciting and inspiring STEM experiences with visiting experts.
The Environmental Health Noise Team delivered a fascinating session where children had the opportunity to see and even hold specialist sound equipment. They also took part in a range of fun (and loud!) practical activities, exploring the link between sound and vibrations. It was wonderful to see STEM brought to life in such an engaging way, helping pupils to understand what a career in science might look like.
We were also delighted to welcome visitors from Allpay Limited, who spoke to our Key Stage 2 pupils about STEM and its real-world applications. Pupils were introduced to the concept of STEAM, discovering how art plays an important role alongside science, technology, engineering and maths. They also learned how different roles and apprenticeships work together within the industry.
The children were particularly interested in exploring how payment methods have evolved over time — from bartering with animals to making quick, contactless payments with a watch! They found out what happens behind the scenes when you pay by card and were amazed by the amount of technology involved in something we use every day.
We were also joined by Leila from Helyx, who delivered a fascinating talk on data mapping and how information is managed in the modern world.
Finally, Emily and Aaron from OPN gave an engaging presentation on sports science, performance, and data analysis, showing pupils how STEM plays a vital role in the world of sport.
These experiences have helped to inspire our pupils and deepen their understanding of the many exciting opportunities that STEM can offer in the future.
